Aw.... yeah!

I am letting my girls stay up tonight to watch... SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE? (#SYTYCD)

We're going to pop popcorn over the stove, break open some Limonata San Pellegrino...and move and groove to the music.

SUMMER is officially here.

I've missed you, you crazy judges, choreographers... creative geniuses and kooky kids.

Let's get it on... aw, yeah, yeah!

Makes me want to dance...

... or do some controlled slow-motion running.

Genki Sudo is the singer out in front. He was a retired mixed martial artist. That's not all, he writes, he's a musician, dancer, actor and his Buddhist philosophy is "We are all One". Dude is cool.

Happy Wednesday!
Cheers!

ps. this makes me so excited for SYTYCD! I love great movement. I've been missing watching creative, well-choreographed live art.

Spring Break report:
Day 1 - mail taxes, thai lunch, red light/green light in the light rain drizzle and frozen yogurt
Day 2 - Rio (the movie) with friends - loved it (better than Hop) and lunch.

Princely Conversation

Today in the car on our way to Costco.
If you need a reminder - DD is Dauntless Daughter who is 2.5 years. AGG is Avant Garde Gal who is 4.5 years.

DD talking to a Prince Charming figure (Snow White's prince)

DD: Do you think I'm beautiful?

DD (as the Prince): Yes, you're VERY beautiful.

DD: Then you can be my prince.

AGG: I want him to be my prince.

DD: No - it's my Prince Philip because I'm Aurora.

AGG: But there's a Philip on So You Think You Can Dance. He is a Philip too!

DD: Oh, there's another Philip?

AGG: Yes, he can be your Prince.

DD: Um, well, no thank you.

AGG: Remember when we saw Philip dance and we said, "WHOO HOO PHILIP!!"?

DD: Uh huh.

AGG: I like Philip.

--Lady Gaga's "Let's Dance" starts on the radio--

AGG: This is my song!

--both girls start dancing in their 5-point harness car seats...I am thoroughly entertained--

Christmas Music

My friend Cabesh posted a least favorite Christmas song list. I'd never thought of "I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus" that way before. And... I don't like any of those silly "Grandma got ran over" songs. So I agree with her...although I've never heard her #1 least fav song...

I can't think of any additional songs to list right now that I dislike (I know there are many but...they don't fit in my mental hard-drive right now)... although I tend not to like the pop-r&b remixes of Christmas classics. They all sound cheap and empty to me.

I love these (this is all I can remember right now...when I'm not so tired I'll remember more...maybe):

Karen Carpenter - Christmas Waltz - I love them singing "three-quarter time" - I love Karen's voice
Nat King Cole - Christmas Song - I love anything Nat King Cole sings... that voice is magic
Paul McCartney - Simply Having a Wonderful Time - this is just makes me want to jiggle... in a non-fat kind of a way
Dean Martin - Baby, It's Cold Outside - love Dean's voice
Amy Grant - Grown up Christmas List

Songs that my girls love right now:

Little Drummer Boy - they like to sing Pa rum pum pum pum (over and over and over and...)
I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas - this is the first song in my head the moment I wake up, during the day and when I go to bed...
Holly Jolly Christmas - they make me play it during the day just so they can dance
Frosty the Snowman - because what kid doesn't like the idea of running around with three big balls of snow?

I'm hoping I can get a little group together to go caroling this Christmas. I haven't gone caroling in so long... I desperately miss it. Now that my girls are older... and learning the songs... I might get my grown-up Christmas wish.

An early gift for you... here are my little munchkins performing the Hippopotamus song...

(me bursting into SHOUTING) I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!!
ps. It was very hard to hold the camera steady and not giggle.

I need Him

After watching Wall-E with the girls and enjoying a teriyaki and sushi meal for my birthday

I just finished that post about delighting in my family... that post isn't complete without my hubby.

Ry is the guy who has endless patience with me. He knows I'm completely high-maintenance. He finds me adorable, sexy and a woman full of love. I used to tell people that I appreciated him because he let's me do what I want, when I want. But that's not quite true. It's not even a matter of letting me. I'm not his child, his ward or his servant. I'm his equal. So he doesn't even think that he needs to provide permission. He just steps out of my way and stands next to me.

This is guy who is unlike any man I have ever known in my life. He comes home from work and plays with the girls while I finish up making dinner. The girls love having their Daddy home. It always brings a smile to my face to see them running to him, just to have him swing them up into his arms. They often do this multiple times until Daddy's arms are spent.

This is a man who helps clean up dishes after dinner. This is a man who vacuums, does toilets, bathes the girls, brushes their teeth, puts them to bed and tells spellbinding stories to our precious girls. This is a man who understands that discipline is firmness of spirit - not violence. This is a man who understands that more important than discipline is the increase of love. I'm so grateful that my daughters know that their father loves them. I love that they enjoy being cuddled by him.

I love that they get jealous when he's swinging me around the kitchen dance floor. I love when he grabs me from behind. I love that my hubby will start rubbing my feet or my shoulders... just because he wants to. I love that he's one that's willing to do better by me and my daughters. I love how easily he still responds... to me... even after a pregger body. I love that he has a merciful and kind heart. It's taken me a long time to realize that hearts like his are rare.

This doesn't make him perfect... it's taken time for both of us to learn and grow and become. Marriage isn't easy. Parenthood isn't easy. Things have gotten better in the last few years as we adjust and grow, little-by-little. Sometimes progress is so gradual that one day you look up and you're amazed at the view you're seeing. And of course he has his moments... as do I, but when I look at what allows me to truly delight in motherhood... he contributes a large percentage to my ability to do so. If I didn't have a partner who shared in the day-to-day work of parenting... I think I would be a total wreck. As it is... I'm grateful.

I love you hunny bunny.

ps. when I'm out late with girlfriends... he waits up for me... it's cute.

Quizes

I saw this on nestleknight's website. This is for the dancer in my heart...what about you?

You Are Belly Dancing

You are sensual and naturally sexy. Never trashy, though.

You are comfortable in your own skin. You don't have hangups about your body.

You are confident and playful. You love showing off.

You tend to be a little dominant and assertive... but only in a flirtatious way!

What Dance Are You?

Incidentally...Belly Dancing is next on my list of to learn...
