Friday: A Family Lives Here - Exhibit 15

I'll be posting each Friday with the same theme of "A Family Lives Here". Hope you like it. Hope you join in on the fun.

Exhibit 15:

As kids my brothers and I enjoyed playing with legos. We received some legos one Christmas I remember. We were excited! Then we realized the pieces were mixed up in all of our boxes. Turns out they were hand-me-down legos from our friend across the street. My Mom had saran wrapped the boxes. Regardless, we loved creating with them.

We thought now would be a good time to introduce our girls to legos. We went to Target and found the only pink box in the aisle. We also purchased a pack with a bus, pizza shop, bike shop and bus stop.

Let's just say... I love putting them together. I love following instructions. Also, I love miniature stuff. Our girls... kept saying "Oh! How cute! It's so tiny!"

Oh, I've already vacuumed up a glass goblet, but saw it and removed it from the vacuum. I felt like a hero. I've already stepped on two... and one of them made my foot bleed, internally. Let the madness begin.

What are your favorite legos?

Friday: A Family Lives Here - Exhibit 14

I'll be posting each Friday with the same theme of "A Family Lives Here". Hope you like it. Hope you join in on the fun.

Exhibit 14:

Good morning! It's breakfast time.

Tiana must've made good on her restaurant.

If Mulan is anything like me - she loves to enjoy good food.

Look, there are the cutie pies enjoying breakfast and entertainment.

Tiana and Mulan were centerpieces for our dinner the night before these pictures were taken. My daughters love setting the table, but their favorite thing to do is to come up with creative center pieces.

Do you kids like to set the table too?

Friday: A Family Lives Here - Exhibit 13

I'll be posting each Friday with the same theme of "A Family Lives Here". Hope you like it. Hope you join in on the fun.

Exhibit 13:

All set up  for a bit of painting.

My oldest is all about art, writing, dancing, singing, and is pretty much my little creative genius.

My youngest is right there next to her sister, they enjoy doing so many things together, all the time.

While they were busying making their little masterpieces, I busied myself in the kitchen doing what I love most...

Chocolate cupcakes (I used the chocolate cake recipe from Real Simple Magazine), filled with a dollop of nutella and a strawberry/raspberry/lemon sauce (I used the Ina Garten eton mess recipe for the sauce & added chopped strawberries), then frosted with dark chocolate ganache (I used the Trader Joe's pound plus dark chocolate bar instead of semi-sweet chocolate), decorated with a milk chocolate crisp and a slice of strawberry.

My little masterpieces displaying their masterpieces, eating mine.

I feel so grateful to have the luxury to create, simple things that bring joy.
What do you and yours love to make?

Friday: A Family Lives Here - Exhibit 12

I'll be posting each Friday with the same theme of "A Family Lives Here". Hope you like it. Hope you join in on the fun.

Exhibit 12:

Where am I?

Well, I've been out and about with my girls all summer.

Swimming, creating art, exploring, working on workbooks, cooking, baking, imagining... all of it... offline. It's been great!

Toodleoo!

ps. There's also been a fair bit of this...

You know... fighting, whining and general mayhem.

and this...

Have you been busy having fun this summer?

Friday: A Family Lives Here - Exhibit 11

I'll be posting each Friday with the same theme of "A Family Lives Here". Hope you like it. Hope you join in on the fun.

Exhibit 11:

Just an ordinary flat sheet, right?

That's what the pirates want you to think.

Get the rigging, lasses!

Now, the simple sheet has transformed into the lovely long locks of Rapunzel.

When I took this picture my oldest said they were posing for a movie poster.

My daughters are dragging their flat sheets throughout the house. The game they play the most, is reenacting scenes, and singing songs from Tangled. It is really adorable, except when it isn't, and you wonder where that blasted mute button is. Ha!

This week has been filled with swimming, outings and play dates. So I've been light on the blog posts, because I've been reading too. This will likely continue the whole of summer. But I will try to focus to make it each Friday.

I am lucky my girls play so well together. They have their moments, but don't we all? These posts are my way of counting my many blessings.

What kind of games to your kids play, on repeat?

Friday: A Family Lives Here - Exhibit 10

I'll be posting each Friday with the same theme of "A Family Lives Here". Hope you like it. Hope you join in on the fun.

Exhibit 10:

Well, what do we have here?

Looks like a room freshly vacuumed.

No, wait... just a balance beam.

Of course, it could also be a pirate's plank.

Cheers!

What kind of seemingly ordinary items do your kids use their imaginations on?

Friday: A Family Lives Here - Exhibit 9

I'll be posting each Friday with the same theme of "A Family Lives Here". Hope you like it. Hope you join in on the fun.

Exhibit 9:

What do we have here?

It's a picnic!

Yes, this is how we spent Memorial Day. The weather here has been unusually cool. Instead of the hot summer days, we are experiencing the oddest weather... midwest-style. It was too windy to enjoy a relaxing picnic, so we kept it indoors.

That means... pajamas for the parents!

Chillin'

Cheers!

What do you do when the weather refuses to cooperate?
