FHE - Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies

...or why we shouldn't lie.

Bear in mind, this morning when I asked 4YO Dauntless Daughter (DD) if she had brushed her teeth she made it clear she had - but then refused to open her mouth when I wanted to smell if she did.

Right before Family Home Evening (FHE) she had gotten into the medicine cabinet and broken one of my decorative little vases. There were tears, because big sis, 6YO Avant Garde Gal (AGG) was about to report on the accident.

Tonight's FHE was specifically for our little DD.

Phantom: Why shouldn't we tell lies?

AGG: People won't believe us. It's mean. Heavenly Father doesn't want us to. We'll get in trouble.

Phantom: Very good.

QS: *ahem* honey, ask DD.

Phantom: DD, why shouldn't we lie?

DD: Because if we try to hide the glass we might cut our fingers. And if we try to flush it down the toilet we might also cut our fingers.

I have to give her props for coming up with ideas of how to hide the evidence. This incident reminded me of the ornament she broke and hid behind the couch.

After our lesson, ice cream sundaes... it was time to get ready to go to bed. Take a wild guess what our cherubic 4YO said when we asked her if she had brushed her teeth. She said YES! Even though she hadn't. Bill Cosby is right. Kids have brain damage!

ps. Dude. I am so screwed when she becomes a teenager. I better start saving up some points in heaven to help me through those years. I am very, very frightened.

Nah, she's getting it all out of her system now.

Visiting from Leigh vs. Laundry but then saw this post and had to laugh. We have the exact same problem with our 6 yr. old. He even gets his toothbrush wet and puts it away so it looks like he brushed. So, are you telling me a FHE lesson won't help? ;)

Mrs Organic - I'm holding you to that...

Danelle - If you discover a secret... let me know. I get why 8YO is when they get baptized. ;-)

Jess - She is ...always hilarious.
