Book Tag - You're It

I'm it! I've been tagged by my friend Cabesh

The rules:
1. Pick up the nearest book (at least 123 pages).
2. Turn to page 123.
3. Find the 5th sentence.
4. Post the 5th sentence on your blog.
5. Tag 5 people.

Quote:
"Of course it is, in one sense."

Anne Morrow Lindbergh's meditations on life in relation to the sea. The sentence before is, "The search for outward simplicity, for inner integrity, for fuller relationship--is this not a limited outlook. Of course it is, in one sense. Today a kind of planetal point of view has burst upon mankind."

From Gift From The Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh.

I tend to do everything quickly, headfirst. That's how I am with reading. I want to find a book that sucks me in and keeps me throttled in its grasp until the last page...where I'm left wanting more. This book is completely different than my other reads. It's peaceful, contemplative and beautiful. It's a tiny book - but it's taking me much longer to finish. I finished Pillars of the Earth in 2.5 days. This one, I'm savoring and meditating...I like to sit still and find peace.

Tag, you're it (I'm not sure who hasn't done this yet, I feel like I'm late to the party):
Jess
Amy
Kaimori
PamNoyes
C.Wilson/Jon Max W.

Everyone loves this book. EVERYONE. Everyone but me. I must not be wise enough. Or contemplative enough. sigh.

I didn't know everyone and their dog liked this book...which kind of makes me want to not like it...but that's not working. ;-)

I feel that way about Kite Runner - I think I am the only one who doesn't think it was a story about redemption.

And...for the record... you are one person who I think is wise, contemplative and engaging... SO THERE! ;-) Your posts make me take another look at myself.

I must confess.. I was not terribly impressed with this book, either.

There were a few snippets I loved.. but honestly, they were few and far between.

I think it had been over-hyped before I read it. Maybe I would have appreciated it more if I hadn't had such high expectations?
